CASELAP concludes Summer Course on Environmental Valuation

The Centre for Advanced Studies in Environmental Law and Policy (CASELAP), University of Nairobi, has for the past one month been offering a twenty (20) credit hour summer training course on Environmental Valuation. The aim of the course was to enhance local and regional capacity to access information and expertise on ecosystem service valuation and adopt and integrate them in sustainable development planning. The course attracted a total of 5 participants—three from Nigeria and two from Kenya.  The chief trainer was Dr. Richard Mulwa assisted by Prof. Nicholas Oguge. The mode of delivery was by lectures and a field practical. For the field practical, the team was able to visit the Yala swamp in Western Kenya to expose the participants on the different ecosystem goods and services and the different techniques and methods of valuing them. CASELAP intends hold similar trainings in subsequent years. In pictures below:
