At the centre of the 2-day conference held at the University of Nairobi on 23rd January 2020-24th January 2020, was the need to showcase experiences from research, field projects and best practices in climate change adaptation in African countries, which may be useful or implemented in other countries. The conference was interdisciplinary with participants drawn from diverse academic and professional backgrounds from over 15 countries. Besides showcasing research from universities, research institutions, NGOs and enterprises from Africa and those working in Africa, the conference sought to foster the exchanges of information, ideas and experiences acquired in the execution of climate change adaptation projects especially successful initiatives in Africa and good practices across African continent; discuss the methodological approaches and experiences deriving from the case studies and projects, and to network the participants and provide a platform so that they can explore possibilities and cooperation.
The Conference was co-chaired by Prof. Nicholas Oguge from CASELAP who also played a key role in the organizing and convening of the conference. Other Co-Chairs were Dr. Vincent Ogutu (Strathmore University) Prof. Stephen Kiama (Vice Chancellor, University of Nairobi) Dr. Joseph Njoroge (PS, State Department of Energy) and Ms. Betty Maina (PS, State Department of Environment and Forestry).
