"....It is surprising that, BBI,  a framework to deal with the underlying issues affecting the Kenyan society and resulting tensions and divisions can ignore the land question. Knowing the place that land occupies in the country and how it is a trigger for several other conflicts in the country, any genuine efforts to address the country’s problems cannot ignore the land question. If that happens, it can only mean that there is no commitment to finding long-lasting solutions to what ails Kenya."  Dr. Collins, Odote 

At the centre of the 2-day conference held at the University of Nairobi on 23rd January 2020-24th January 2020, was the need to showcase experiences from research, field projects and best practices in climate change adaptation in African countries, which may be useful or implemented in other countries. The conference was interdisciplinary with participants drawn from diverse academic and professional backgrounds from over 15 countries.

" ....In reality though, Uhuru Park is not just land. It means much more. First it is the most important open space in the city. On any day you will find preachers, families relaxing, workers resting during breaks, traders selling their wares and politicians holding rallies. Open spaces serve important functions in any society."

The Centre for Advanced Studies in Environmental Law and Policy (CASELAP) and the School of Law of the University of Nairobi on 5th, December 2019, co-hosted a public forum on the implications of the decision to construct the Nairobi Expressway across Uhuru Park on public participation, conservation of open spaces and sustainable development in Kenya.
